The Structured Query Language (SQL) comprises one of the fundamental building blocks of modern database architecture. SQL defines the methods used to create and manipulate relational databases on all major platforms.SQL works with database programs like MS Access, DB2, Informix, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, etc.


SQL Commands can be divided into four sublanguages

Data Manipulation Language(DML) : Select, Insert, Update, Delete, Merge

Data Definition Language(DDL) : Create, Alter, Drop, Rename, Truncate

Transaction Control : Commit, Rollback, Savepoint

Data Control Language(DCL) : Grant, Revoke
